How do I recover commits I made in git detached HEAD state?

How it was checked: Reproduced: committed on a detached HEAD, switched back, recovered it with git branch rescued <sha>.

Fix

If you're still on the detached commit: git branch rescued (or git switch -c rescued). If you already switched away: find the commit with git reflog (look for the commit message), then git branch rescued <sha>. Commits that no branch points to are garbage-collected eventually (reflog entries expire after about 90 days by default), so rescue them soon.
