Fix

Am I affected: CVE-2026-113380 (CVSS v4 9.3) is in RingRTC, the calling library inside the Signal apps, in all versions before 2.72.0. A malicious participant in an active call can stop the call from shutting down cleanly when the other side hangs up. Your microphone audio, and possibly video, can then keep flowing to them after you think the call has ended. It only matters on calls with someone hostile: an attacker can't reach you without being in a call with you. As of October 21, 2026, Malwarebytes reported no known exploitation in the wild. How to check: - Signal users: check for updates in Google Play, the App Store, or Signal Desktop (Help → Check for updates). Signal hasn't published a per-platform list of first-fixed app versions, so the safe rule is to install the latest version on every device. - Developers embedding RingRTC (forks, custom clients, bridges): check the RingRTC version in your dependency manifest (Cargo.toml / Gradle / CocoaPods / npm @signalapp/ringrtc). Fix: - Update Signal on all phones and desktops to the current release. - Developers: upgrade RingRTC to 2.72.0 or later. The fix adds an independent termination flag and time limits so that hangup completes even when the call's event queue is flooded. Interim mitigation until every device is updated: on sensitive calls with people you don't fully trust, confirm the call screen has closed. Revoke microphone and camera permission or close the app if it seems stuck, and avoid calls from unknown contacts (Signal's message-request flow helps here). After updating: there is nothing to rotate. If you believe a call didn't end properly before you patched, treat anything said near the device afterwards as possibly heard.
