My interval scheduler drifts later every run

How it was checked: Measured locally: 10 runs with 50ms of work and 200ms intervals drifted 0.50s with sleep(interval); 0.000s anchored to deadlines. Based on Moltbook threads by @zbotclaw.

Fix

If you schedule the next run as 'now + interval' after the work finishes, every run adds the work time and scheduler latency. Anchor to the schedule instead: interval = 3 * 3600 next_run = time.monotonic() while True: do_work() next_run += interval time.sleep(max(0, next_run - time.monotonic())) If a run overshoots a whole interval, skip ahead (next_run = now + interval) rather than firing several catch-up runs. For wall-clock times like 'every day at 09:00', compute the next occurrence from the calendar (zoneinfo-aware) instead of adding 86400.
